Services

  • Assistance on general and specific library inquiries through the information desk, by phone, and e-mail.
  • Lending of tablets within respective areas (Periodicals Section, and AR Library) for mobile access to e-resources.
  • Online Book Reservation and Renewal – this online facility allows patrons to reserve and/or renew materials under their account through the library’s web OPAC. This online facility is also synchronized to the Library System.
  • Intralibrary loan- the loan of an item by the library to the another library (Makati, MHSS Libraries).
  • Document Delivery Service – patrons can request delivery of journal articles owned by the library through electronic mails. This service is free to all MIT Library patrons.
  • Remote Access Service – Mapua Library’s EZproxy service provides off-campus access to most of the library’s online subscriptions. Visit any of our Circulation/Information Desks to ask for assistance.
  • Circulation of library materials- check-out and return of General Circulation, Reserve and Filipiniana book collections using self-service stations and book drop machines which are located in General Circulation section and Periodicals, respectively
  • E-mail notification of overdue library materials
  • Interlibrary loans with local libraries [Intramuros libraries and members of the Philippine Association of Academic & Research Libraries network]. Please approach the Reference Section Staff to avail of this service.
  • Referral Service - Referral letters/forms to visit other libraries can be obtained from the Reference section for a fee of Php10.00.
  • Readers Assistance - users are offered assistance in the selection of library materials on the subject of inquiry. Researchers may be directed to appropriate sources of information available in Mapua Library.
  • Searching Assistance - Instructions & assistance are given in the use of electronic catalogues, databases, internet, etc.
  • Accommodation of outside researchers - The library attends to visiting users up to a maximum of five persons at one time. Outside researcher’s fee is Php75.00/quarter term for alumni & Php50.00/day for other visiting users except Library Consortium members. Requirements are as follows: NAMA card from alumni and Referral/formal letter from other visiting researchers.
  • Orientation & Library tour - It gives short information/lecture to the patrons & visitors of the library with regard to library facilities, services & policies.
  • Internet service - It provides access to users and the opportunity to surf & navigate the information highway.
  • Multimedia service - It provides users with relevant information through electronic/nonprint material such as DVD’s CD-ROM’s, electronic resources, etc. It also includes value added services like downloading, typing and printing of research outputs
  • Word processing / Typing in the Internet Section is free of charge.
  • Current Awareness Service – Announce newly acquired materials through OPAC (Book river) display, social media sites, e-bulletin board and library page.
  • Annotation & indexing - It gives brief information about unpublished research studies and periodical articles via the online catalogs.
  • Online Databases- Access to databases like Science Direct, IEEE, EBSCO, Access Engineering, GVRL and Britannica Online which offers a variety of journal articles and general information respectively.
  • E-Librarian - Answers queries and concerns regarding the improvement of the library operations, resources, services and facilities. Thru E-Mail: [email protected] or social networks being maintained by the department like Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
  • Scanning - allows you to scan your paper for minimal fee. You can go to the Internet section to avail of this service.
  • CD/DVD Burn - allows you to save your file on CD/DVD for a minimal fee. You can avail of this service in the Multimedia section.
  • TurnItin Originality Checking Service - Turnitin is a web-based plagiarism checking tool subscribed by the Institute to help faculty members and students to assess their research/ work for originality check and avoid plagiarism. The service is available in Architecture Library and Multimedia/Internet Section (Main Library).

Facilities

  • Library Reading Areas – Mapua Libraries provide several reading areas offering different modes of seating as well
  • ID Tapping Kiosk – Convenient way of logging-in upon entry in the Main Library.
  • Study Areas/Reading Areas:
    • Quiet Study Zones – provides study areas for patrons requiring a quiet place to study. Designated Quiet Study Zones are Periodicals Section, AR Library, and General Reference Section.
    • Quiet Group Study Zones - Those wishing to study in small groups with low-volume conversation. Located in the Main Library General Circulation.
    • Discussion Rooms – for group studies and presentation activities. Patrons can also borrow the Interactive White Board Kit (e-beam) and overhead projector while using the Discussion Room. Located in the Main Library General Circulation. Pre-booking is suggested.
  • Study spaces- General Circulation section provides space for group study and collaborative learning. Conversational and acceptable level of noise is expected.
  • Bookdrop Machine- a self-service machine that allows patron to return borrowed books (i.e General Circulation, Reserve and Filipiniana).
  • Self-Service Stations – allow patrons to check-out library materials (i.e General Circulation, Reserve and Filipiniana books). Machines are located in General Circulation Section.
  • Circulation Desk – lends and accepts return check-out and room-use books, provides assistance on online renewal and online book reservation, issues charge slip for overdue books.
  • WebOPAC (Online Public Access Catalog) – a web-based facility allowing library patrons to search all materials (books, journals, e-books, e-journals, non-print, etc.) available in the library.
  • Wireless Internet – Library patrons can connect laptops and mobile devices to the wireless internet provided by the Institution.
  • OPAC - allow library patrons to search all materials (books, journals, e-books, e-journals, non-print, etc.) available in the library. This also allows patrons to do online book reservation and renewal.
  • Computer terminals – 35 computers with internet access are available to library users.
